The following post is based on the story of when the Queen of Sheba came to visit king Solomon. At this time king Solomon and the nation of Israel was at the height of it's glory and wealth. The LORD had blessed them abundantly because they followed His ways and sought after Him. Before continuing on it would be a blessing to you if you took a moment and read 1 Kings 10:1-13.
For the purpose of what the Lord wants to say today we will focus on just a few verses from 1 Kings 10.
1 Kings 10:6-9 Then she said to the king: “It was a true report which I heard in my own land about your words and your wisdom. However I did not believe the words until I came and saw with my own eyes; and indeed the half was not told me. Your wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame of which I heard. Happy are your men and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom! Blessed be the LORD your God, who delighted in you, setting you on the throne of Israel! Because the LORD has loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness.”
In this passage we see the words that the Queen of Sheba spoke to king Solomon upon seeing all that the Lord had done in the nation of Israel and for the house of king Solomon. When the Queen of Sheba was in her own land she had heard all of the reports of the wealth, wisdom, and prosperity of king Solomon and the nation of Israel. These reports were so great and wonderful that she did not believe them; she just had to check them out for herself. When she finally met with king Solomon and saw all that the Lord had done in the land she was amazed. She even made the statement that the reports she heard were only half of the truth. She then began to bless the name of the LORD for she saw and recognized that it was Him who had given all this to king Solomon and Israel. It was so much glory, majesty, wisdom, and prosperity that the only way to explain it was to give God credit for it. All of this caused the Queen of Sheba to be drawn to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
So how does this relate to us today? Today we don't have to live in an extravagant home, drive an expensive car, or have a huge bank account to show the glory of God in our lives. This may come as a shock to those who have heard the message of "prosperity" that has been preached from the pulpits over the pst few years. We must remember that when Jesus came He turned the structure of this world upside down and opened the reality of the spiritual realm to us. In America we have gotten away from the kingdom principles and have run after the worldly ones. It's time to return to our roots in Jesus. Today our wealth and prosperity is determined by our spiritual well-being and our walk with Holy Spirit, not by the amount of finances we can amass or by the size of our house or how fancy our car is. It's time to wake up America!
I know what you are saying; "If that is the true, why did you reference the passage above to make a point when it talks about worldly wealth?" Well, the answer is simple. As I stated above Jesus moved our existence from the worldly to the spiritual. So we have to ask "what can I learn from the teachings of the Old Covenant?" If God chose to put it in His Word, there must be something I need to learn from it. We must learn from the Old Covenant by applying it to our lives through the revelation of Jesus Christ. In this particular instance what God is wanting to teach us is how our lives should reflect His glory and how He will use that to draw others to Him. When our lives are filled with His healing, His deliverance, His freedom, and His peace, people will see that and be drawn to Him. They will notice the love and compassion that flows from us as He fills us with His Holy Spirit. As we submit to God and remove sin from our lives through repentance and obedience, God will fill our lives with His spiritual wealth and prosperity. Our lives will become a testimony to those around us. We begin to be set apart from the rest of the world and people will notice there is something different about us and they will begin to ask questions and want to know what it is that we have that makes us so different.
As the people around us see the glory of God manifesting in our lives they will be drawn closer to Him. In this day and age we are facing many challenges. People, whether they admit it or not, are getting fearful of what is to come. There is something inside of them that is telling them it is only going to get worse. I believe it will get worse before it gets better. God is removing the idols from our lives (our finances, our homes, our jobs, or comfort, even our families and leaders that we put above Him) in an effort to draw us back to Him. God is a jealous God and He wants our whole heart. As we give our lives to Jesus, and turn our focus on Him He will provide for our needs and we won't need to fear what lies ahead. As those people who are trapped in the lusts of this world see the peace that we have in these times of trouble it will cause them to ask "what is this peace that you have?" When they ask us about that we need to be bold and share with them the source of our peace, Jesus Christ. The problem exists that there are many people out there who claim to be "christian" but there lives do not reflect the fruit of the Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Instead their lives are filled with the works of the flesh:
Galatians 5:19-23 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
We have allowed the devil to enter into our churches and contaminate the people of God. It is time for us to repent of our sins, return to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Jesus Christ, and allow Him to be the priority in our lives. It is time for the Christians in America to allow Holy Spirit to actually work in their lives instead of just talking about it. Our lives are to be a reflection of the very nature of Jesus. I think we need to go back and read the four Gospels and the book of Acts and learn what it really means to be the body of Christ.
As our lives are changed and transformed by the resurrection power of Jesus and the grace of God is poured out through Holy Spirit we will begin to shine forth His heavenly glory and that will cause people to seek after Him and give Him all the praise. People will praise the name of God and cry out to Him.
So, the question is, "what does your life show others?" Do you show them the glory of God, or do you show them the darkness of the world?
I pray that this word has spoken to you. Even if you are a believer, I know there are areas in your life that you still need to surrender to Jesus. If you do not have a relationship with Jesus I would invite you to take time right now to ask Him into your life. No matter where you are at, a believer or not, I would encourage you to pray this prayer from your heart believing in it's words:
"Lord Jesus, I recognize that my life does not reflect Your glory as it should. I acknowledge that You have created me to live a life of spiritual prosperity and wealth, but I do not have that. I want to walk in Your prosperity and wealth. Lord Jesus come into my life today in a fresh and new way. Remove the works of my flesh and fill me with the fruit of Your Spirit. I renounce to the works of my flesh in my life and I receive the fruit of Your Spirit. Deliver me and teach me Your ways. You know me inside and out and You know what it is going to take to bring the change that is needed in my life. I surrender today to Your will and ask that You transform my life into the life You have planned for me. Fill me with Your peace in these troubled times. I trust in You today and need You to be a part of my life every day. I thank you Lord Jesus for Your love, for Your strength, and for Your sacrifice that You gave so that I might live a transformed life filled with Your prosperity. Use me for Your honor and glory so those around me might see Your glory and be drawn to You. In Jesus name. Amen"
If you have prayed this prayer, We agree with your today and declare the transformation power of Jesus Christ in your life. This prayer, if prayed from your heart, will open heavens in your behalf. The Lord may have to do some deep work in your life to get you where He wants you so hang in there and keep seeking Him. We bless you and give God the glory for the healing and transformation that is coming to your life.
