The Correction of the Lord:
A word to the people of America
(Part One of a two part prophetic word)
Amos 3:7-8
7 Surely the Lord God does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. 8 A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken! Who can but prophesy?
Over the past few months the Lord has been speaking that there is a time of judgment coming to this land, not only in Kissimmee, St. Cloud, and Orlando, but the entire nation as well. The following message is a warning from the Lord, but has a doorway of hope at the end. The Lord is merciful and will always leave us a way to escape (see 1 Corinthians 10:13). I pray that as you read this word that you will be filled with a sense of how serious God is and allow this prophetic word to give you direction for your lives to help you through the times that are coming.
The Lord is asking us a question: “What offence has come before His thrown that has stirred His anger?”
Amos 4:1-5
Hear this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, Who oppress the poor, Who crush the needy, Who say to your husbands, “Bring wine, let us drink!” 2 The Lord God has sworn by His holiness: “Behold, the days shall come upon you When He will take you away with fishhooks, And your posterity with fishhooks. 3 You will go out through broken walls, Each one straight ahead of her, And you will be cast into Harmon,” Says the Lord.
What is the Lord judging in this passage? There are several things that have displeased the Lord, but in this passage we see some very specific ones. First we have the oppression of the poor. We need to get past our selfish pride and reach out to those in need. Many of the needy in this country are immigrants coming from Mexico and South America. These people are fleeing their countries because of the oppression and misery there and are coming to America for a chance at a new life and hope. I would say that 99% of you who are reading this are decedents of immigrants who came to this county seeking a new life and hope. Who are we to deny other children of God the same opportunity? Even if we get taken advantage of by some dishonest person, it is far better to serve before the Lord than to turn our backs on those who are in need.
When we crush the needy we are basically saying that we don’t care about their lack and we turn our back on them instead of helping them. In essence we are leaving them to be devoured by this dark world through oppression and misery instead of showing them the light of Jesus. “Bring wine, let us drink” in the above passage is referring to our over indulging and not taking care of those around us who are without. We are living in excess and this country is getting ready for a huge lesson in being in need. We have spent years drinking in the wine of excess, and that vat is about to run dry if we do not turn from our wicked ways.
Another interesting note is that the Lord mentions Samaria in this passage. In the New Testament, Samaria was a place of great witchcraft. Refer to Acts 8 where the whole land was under the influence of a sorcerer names Simon. God is addressing a specific land in this passage, the land of Samaria. In this message today the lord is directing His message to a specific land, His Church. Our churches are full of witchcraft. We have allowed the teachings of man to overthrow the truth of God’s Word. Religion and Tradition have more weight than the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our tithes are based on how well we like the sermon that Sunday, and the preachers are preaching messages that will please the people instead of confronting them, all because they need to meet a budget. This is witchcraft and God is not pleased! (See 1 Samuel 13:23)
So what does the Lord mean when He says “take you away with fishhooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.”? In order to understand this passage we need to look at what fishing meant to the Israelites during the time that this was written. Fishing was a way of livelihood for the Israelites. The vast majority of their animal food intake came from fish and they would sell the fish they caught to gain income and provide for their families. If the Lord takes away their fishhooks He is taking away their daily provision. He basically is leaving us unfed and without any means to provide for ourselves. The Lord will take away the posterity of the people because they do not give to those in need out of what He has given them. Many of us have good homes, we eat very well, and we live in nice air conditioned homes and sleep very well at night, yet how many of us take the time to give to a brother in need our someone we know needs help? Not to mention, many of us go to bed at night with medical problems such as acid reflux and indigestion or heart burn. This comes from our overindulgence. It is time to wake up people!
This brings us to “broken walls”. What does this mean? Walls to the Israelites and the people of the Bible meant protection. If these walls were broken and torn down they were exposed to the enemy. During the time of judgment the LORD will tear down your walls of protection, both in the natural and the spiritual. You will be exposed to the enemy and he will be allowed to come in and work in your life to take away your goods and your safety. Have you noticed the influx of terrorist that have been infiltrating our nation through Texas from Mexico? How many known terrorist groups are currently in this country, living, working, and worshipping their God, right under our noses, protected by our laws? We need to become very active in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and witnessing in this season. Did you know that the Lord is revealing himself to many Muslin people through visions and dreams? He is coming to them and they are converting all over the Middle East. Why aren’t they doing that here in the US? I feel God is allowing the influx of Muslims into this country to bring judgment, and then when judgment has past and the people of the US are broken before Him, He will reveal Himself to both the Americans and the Muslims in this land.
Many people are asking “where is God” in all of this? Why have we not heard from Him? Well, God has been talking, it’s just that we as Americans are to full of pride to hear Him. God has been sending His warnings to try to get America to see Him and His ways and return to Him.
Amos 4:6-12
6“Also I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities. And lack of bread in all your places; Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the Lord. 7 “I also withheld rain from you, When there were still three months to the harvest. I made it rain on one city, I withheld rain from another city. One part was rained upon, And where it did not rain the part withered. 8 So two or three cities wandered to another city to drink water, But they were not satisfied; Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the Lord. 9 “I blasted you with blight and mildew. When your gardens increased, Your vineyards, Your fig trees, And your olive trees, The locust devoured them; Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the Lord. 10 “I sent among you a plague after the manner of Egypt; Your young men I killed with a sword, Along with your captive horses; I made the stench of your camps come up into your nostrils; Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the Lord. 11 “I overthrew some of you, As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, And you were like a firebrand plucked from the burning; Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the Lord. 12 “Therefore thus will I do to you, O Israel; Because I will do this to you, Prepare to meet your God, O (America)!”
Ever since September 11, 2001 God has been sending us warning after warning. What have these warnings been?
“Cleanness of teeth and lack of bread”- We have seen the price of food raise substantially lately and we have seen many families in lack because of the loss of jobs. If your teeth are clean, then they have not been dirtied by the food you have been eating. If there is no food to dirty your teeth, they will be clean. Next the Lord talks how He will withhold the rain. Do you remember the drought a few years back that hit Tennessee, the Carolinas and other places in the south? What about the farming industry? Has anyone researched what is happening out west with the nations crop supply? It is suffering in a large way. The floods a few years back, the drought, and the lack of finances for farmers has put this nation on the verge of a huge food shortage of epidemic proportions. It is even to the point where many farmers are going bankrupt and selling off their land to developers thus eliminating much of the farm land were we grow our crops. At this rate we will be dependent on other nations for food and totally controlled by their will.
“Sent a plague” – Does anyone remember the swine flu or possibly the bird flu? These are just the latest of the sickness and plagues the Lord has sent as the beginnings of His judgments. These two alone claimed many lives and cost our healthcare system millions, if not billions, of dollars. Can you imagine what it will be like when God’s judgment falls in the form of a plague? Lord have mercy on us.
“Killed your men with a sword”– Need we say anymore? I don’t think anyone will ever forget 9/11 or the men and woman we have lost in the Middle East over the past years.
“Prepare to meet your God! “– God has been sending us sign after sign, warning after warning, yet we as a nation do not return to Him. We are about to see a move of God’s judgment in this nation like we have never seen before unless we repent and change our ways.
